Suitable amounts of carbohydrate and protein in the post-training supplement are 25g and 10g respectively, and could be prepared yourself as a drink or a mix to be taken as soon as you walk towards the locker rooms. Your normal meal immediately after training should take care of most of your nutritional needs, but getting that edge of instant nutrient supply may be just what you need to reduce muscle catabolism and to boost the training effects. And at a relatively low cost too, if supplements are used in this way. In other words, you get the most benefit from using the supplement at the right time, but without the expense of using them as the manufacturers normally suggest [12,13] .
Hi June, Nature Aminos (powder or tablets) can be taken with food (fruits, veggies, starches, etc), just preferably not with other protein (meat, beans, eggs, etc.) or fats. If you take the aminos, you only have to wait 23 minutes and then you can eat protein & fat. And, if you already ate protein or fat, it is best to wait an hour or two before taking the aminos. HOWEVER (and this is important): It is more important to take the aminos every day, as a habit or normal routine, than it is to worry about taking with food. What that means is, if you happen to mess-up and take them too close together, don’t worry about it!! It is not harmful in any way. All it does is reduce the utilization a bit. But it would be way worse to allow this to interrupt your routine, and then you end up falling out of the habit and stop taking it all together. Know what I mean?
