This 2007 scientific review paper makes it extremely clear that there is a “paucity in quantity and quality of research” about iliotibial band syndrome. They also conclude that what information exists is not particularly helpful! “There seems limited evidence to suggest that the conservative treatments that have been studied offer any significant benefit in the management of ITBFS.” Yet it is absolutely routine for therapists and doctors, and even so-called experts, to make claims of therapeutic effectiveness! What are they basing that optimism on? The truth is, they simply don’t really know what they are talking about. They can’t — no one does!
ITBS symptoms range from a stinging sensation just above the knee joint , to swelling or thickening of the tissue in the area where the band moves over the femur. The stinging sensation just above the knee joint is felt on the outside of the knee or along the entire length of the iliotibial band . Pain may not occur immediately during activity, but may intensify over time. Pain is most commonly felt when the foot strikes the ground, and pain might persist after activity. Pain may also be present above and below the knee, where the ITB attaches to the tibia . It will also hurt if you twist your knee to turn a corner.
I'm regularly using both Leg and Plantar Inferno Wraps now and I'm already seeing extreme/good results. Basically I'm doing lots of running now and enjoy competing 5k's & 10k's. Hopefully full marathon soon and to achieve better results I need to train hard; consequences [of this] are typical running injuries. Obviously I'm treating my Plantar Fascia [with the Plantar Inferno Wrap], and using the Leg Inferno Wrap I'm treating my calf and hamstring. Both Inferno Wraps I should say are user friendly / easy to use except you need to be near electrical outlet to operate this gadget. I should say this equipment is a big help to the runners world.
